A Beginner’s Guide to NFTs and the WAX blockchain

For anyone new to cryptocurrency and NFTs, learning how to use any blockchain ecosystem can be quite overwhelming. No worries - the WAX blockchain makes it super simple! Here is a guide with the basics to get you started, or for any of your friends who might be interested in WAX NFTs.

The Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) blockchain focuses on the trading of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). NFTs are assets or items that are unique and not interchangeable, unlike Fungible Tokens such as Bitcoin where there is no difference from one Bitcoin and another. Think of an NFT as a trading card. While it only exists digitally in your online WAX wallet (desktop or mobile), it holds a spot on the decentralized blockchain - meaning it is verified to be permanently yours and is not held on any company’s server - just as if you held a physical card in your hand. Without being limited to a physical boundary, you can buy/sell NFTs or trade with anyone in the world seamlessly and quickly!

Creating and Managing your WAX Cloud Wallet

 

You can create a wallet using the WAX Cloud Wallet at https://www.mycloudwallet.com. There are many login methods, ranging from email, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter and even Discord. If registering with an account for the first time, you will need to transfer 5 WAXP to newuser.wax with a special MEMO as instructed. Please email us at contact@consumerbreak.com for help!

Below is a brief overview of the different functions and aspects of your new WAX Wallet:

(1) - Wallet Address:
This is your personal WAX address which is public and another party can send you NFTs and Tokens by putting this address as the recipient. This is the address that you may type or paste into the WAX Address portion of the ConsumerBreak app’s WALLETS menu tab. (“kjkkc.c.wam” in the example)

(2) - WAXP Balance:
WAXP is the main token of the WAX blockchain that is used for transaction when buying and selling NFTs on the market. This will be the token sent to Hybrid Holders that participate in the weekly Profit Share puzzle game.

(3) - Resources:
Different actions on WAX such as transactions or listing NFTs require CPU, NET or RAM. See more info on these below.

(4) - Buy WAXP:
When you click on this button, you will be able to purchase WAXP via a number of different cryptocurrency exchanges. When you buy on any of those exchanges, you will need to then Withdraw the WAXP tokens to your WAX Address to view the balance in your WAX Cloud Wallet.

(5) - NFTs:
When you access this tab, you are able to see all the NFTs you own in your wallet account.

(6) - Send
Type or paste a recipient WAX Address to send WAXP or any NFT to another user

Getting and Selling WAXP Tokens

As mentioned above, WAXP are the main tokens used in the blockchain when trading NFTs. You may see the current price of WAXP Tokens here: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/wax

You will receive WAXP tokens into your wallet account whenever you make any NFT sale on the secondary marketplace, or when you receive any payout if you participate in a weekly Hybrid Holder Profit Share puzzle game.

To sell your WAXP tokens for USD, you will need to click on Send and paste the WAX Address for your account of your chosen cryptocurrency exchange from the Buy WAXP tab. That exchange will have “KYC”, meaning it will require ID verification at sign-up, which will also allow you to sell WAXP for USD when you add a payment source like your bank or debit card.

WAX Blockchain Resources

 

On the WAX Blockchain, there are 3 different resources (NET, CPU & RAM) to allow you to transact and store information on the blockchain. You may view your available remaining Resources by clicking the “Resources” tab and can stake/lock in WAX if you need more in order to perform your actions. You do not need any resources to receive WAXP and can accept a good amount of NFTs and list a few of them before having to use any.

CPU & NET allows you to send/sign a transaction on the blockchain (performing actions) while RAM allows you to store information on the blockchain (holding your NFTs). In order to get more of these resources, you will need to stake/lock in WAX tokens on your account for CPU/NET, or buy RAM (Under the "Resources" tab in your WAX Cloud Wallet). The more WAX you stake in these resources, the more you are able to transact on the blockchain. RAM is like gas in order to list/accept NFTs or WAX - just $1 goes a long way unless you are very active.

NET & CPU replenishes every 72 hours; meaning after you have utilized a certain amount of NET/CPU to carry out a transaction, the amount of resources used is automatically replenished 72 hours after that transaction. On the other hand, RAM is used to store information on the blockchain such as your NFTs. RAM can be bought and sold on the open market through your WAX Cloud Wallet.

If you find yourself having excess resources, you can unstake your WAX tokens and the tokens will be returned back to your account in 72 hours, or you can sell RAM at https://wax.bloks.io/wallet/ram.

Trading NFTs

You may list any of your NFTs for sale on the AtomicHub marketplace, or can buy or make trade offers on any Hybrid Creatures NFTs listed by other users at this link: https://wax.atomichub.io/explorer/collection/cbreakgaming

Simply sign in using your WAX Cloud Wallet, and then browse the marketplace or view and manage your NFTs by clicking “Inventory” in your WAX address menu dropdown.

NFT Blends and Packs

The Blending and Pack utility is done on the NeftyBlocks platform. Sign in there with your WAX Cloud Wallet to view a dashboard with your inventory along with packs and available Blends.

Whenever you receive a Pack, you will see it here and can unpack it to reveal your 3 random Sketch Creatures, which will then be unloaded into your WAX wallet account.

You may view the available dropped Blends and what NFTs are required to blend to obtain each one. Once you are holding all needed NFTs, simply create your blend here which will “burn” the ingredient NFTs and give you the resulting Blend NFT.
